From the 18th century, the Scherenburg was left to decay.
From the castle yard, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Old Town and the mountainous silhouette of eastern Spessart.

Scherenburg Festival
Since the 1990s, the Scherenburg Festival has been staged high above the Old Town of Gemünden. The court of the ruins of this mediaeval castle is the perfect stage for open-air performances.
